qualities needed to achieve success.
Your own determination to succeed is more important than any business skill. Your belief in yourself is more essential than the feeling of accomplishment and if you are truly determined to succeed, you will never be satisfied no matter how successful other people believe you to be.
The secret of success is consistency; to establish a work ethic and repeat it everyday, come what may and in order to achieve consistency, you will need the qualities I told you could only be found within yourself.
ENTREPRENEURIAL QUALITIES NEEDED TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS
DETERMINATION: It is the ability to get up every time you get knocked down that will keep you going. Losers give up and stay down because they think it is the easier option. If you can live with losing, you will never be a great success.
DESIRE: How badly you want success and what sacrifices you are prepared to make in order to achieve it will determine your level of achievement.
AMBITION: This needs to burn like a fire in your belly. Set realistic targets, plan how they are to be achieved, stick to the plan and work at it everyday. Really
successful people
never achieve their ambitions because they are never satisfied. As they get close to one goal, they will be setting higher targets.
SELF BELIEF: You will only makes things happen if you truly believe in yourself and it is that belief that will make things happen. The day you start to question your abilities, the day you lower your targets is the day you start planning to fail. Winners make goals and losers make excuses, losing is not an option.
DISIPLINE: You cannot afford to let anything get in the way of achieving. You must set daily activity targets and keep to them. Don't tackle tasks that don't make you money, these can be delegated. You should set daily targets, prospecting for business and sales targets. Every day is a self training day where you should be learning by experience.
COURAGE: A brave man is not someone who knows no fear. That is an idiot. The courageous man is someone who feels fear, faces it head on and deals with it. Don't be scared of failure or losing, be scared of giving up.
TAKING RISKS: All
successful people
are risk takers but they take calculated risks when they believe the odds are in their favour. Do your homework, do your research, do the sums, ask advice from experts and then make your decision. Is the risk worth it? What do you stand to lose? Is it a risk or a gamble?
SELF MOTIVATION: Who motivates the motivator? You have to get up everyday and act like a winner even when things look bad. Losers give in when things appear to be at their darkest point yet it is normally when business has reached its lowest ebb that the tide can turn. One more call, one more contact, one more sale can be the point that everything comes together.
ENDURANCE: No one has endurance like the man that sells insurance. Success is all about failure. Every no you get takes you closer to a yes. The more rejection you take, the more experience you gain and the more you learn how to overcome objections and deal with rejection. If a sale earns you a thousand pounds and you took fifty rejections to get there, every rejection was worth £20.
DECISIVE: Time is money, the longer you spend weighing up the pros and cons of a decision, the less money you will make. Success is about making the right decisions, to do that you need experience and to gain experience you will end up making the wrong decisions. The key to being a success is thinking how something can be achieved, not wondering if something will work.
FOCUSED: You have to remain focused on your goals at all times. Nothing can be allowed to detract from achieving targets and your daily activity schedules. It will take time to become an overnight success but all it will take is time if you remain focused.
SELF SACRIFICING: To succeed means making sacrifices on a personal level. This can mean family and friends are not going to be your main focus in the early years. Another word for "winning" is "suffering" and that means everybody has to suffer to a degree. You have to decide if the price of success is worth it in the long run.
Successful businessmen are trail blazers who leave trails rather than following the path that everyone else follows. It can be a painful road and if you are starting out in business you can expect to bleed at times. The only genuine get rich scheme is the lottery and it comes with no guarantees. In business, you are your only guarantee and you have to ask yourself if you have what it takes to be successful.
