Social networking websites, using business and social networking websites to promote your business for free are powerful marketing tools

Millions of people visiting a site can generate millions in revenue but it also means hundreds of thousands of enquiries and those people can't be left waiting for weeks for a couple of people to respond. The people have to be in place to begin with and that means the investment has to be put up front and readily available.

This is what most people who try to start internet businesses fail to understand. Your business can go into meltdown from day one and bad news can spread faster across the internet than the Ebola virus. The consequences if a proper business plan covering every scenario is not in place and workable can be disastrous. Our job was to take the problems away from James allowing him to do what he obviously did best, whilst we provided the backing, resources and manpower to support his endeavours.

If there was ever a lesson to be learned from the Golden Web, this is it. Most people set up internet businesses without any research or thought about how they will get traffic to their website. James came to us long before his search engine was ready to launch because he understood that this was an area of expertise he couldn't learn in school or sitting in front of his computer.

However, he was one of those rare animals who had come up with an idea that could go global and make far more money than the million he was hoping to earn. Most people have ridiculous expectations about how much money they can actually make from the internet. James had totally underestimated his potential income and had therefore not considered how he would cope if he suddenly found a million people a day crawling his site and sending email enquiries.

To be fair, he hadn't thought about this problem because his early ambitions didn't stretch that far. However, as discussions progressed and plans started to be made, the realisation of just how huge the potential actually was slowly dawned on him.

Now your internet ambitions may not stretch to global domination but if you get even a half decent internet business off the ground you could face similar problems. Dealing with twenty email enquiries, a dozen telephone calls and processing five orders a day may not sound too much; but believe me, it will leave little time for anything else like developing your business. Some idiots will say "I'll cross that bridge when I get to it." No you won't, you will fall straight into the water and drown under the deluge of complaints that will increase by the day because you are not providing the service you promised. Then those disgruntled clients will post their complaints all over the internet and kill your embryo company stone dead before it has had time to form and breathe life.

Social networking sites can be used to promote any new start up business. But none of them have the potential to do this like Boogami Life.

As I have repeatedly said throughout the Golden Web; "success on the internet takes investment." The vast majority of large successful companies on the internet started big; they did not grow out of someone's back bedroom. You have to have everything in place form the start and blast your way to the top. This doesn't mean that you have to open a call centre and employ a hundred staff from day one, but it does mean that you have to have enough staff in all departments and the infrastructure and resources in place to deal with your anticipated activity. It means that staff can be called in from other departments to handle problems or excessive workloads whilst you or someone else deals with interviewing and recruiting new staff.

Moreover, you cannot expect to pay for this expansion out of early cash flow. James was hoping to make a million pounds in his first few months of trading, pay off his dad's mortgage and have enough to pay other expenses. Paying off the mortgage was the priority but when confronted with the figures he realised that the residue was going to get swallowed up very quickly. His bank's business advisor knew this and that is why he recommended James contact us.

At the time of writing this, plans are already afoot, and new systems already being built, to ensure that the public are kept aware of the new developments on Boogami designed to keep it constantly in the news. Boogami Life the social networking site is just the first of a number of developments. Hopefully those developments that I am going to mention here will already have been implemented before publication of this book. I cannot mention the numerous other functions and services that are already on the drawing board but are planned for the future. One thing you can be sure of is the fact that Boogami is here to stay and is going to develop and grow in all directions and become a major search engine.

Whether it will ever rival Google will be up to the public. The British public do like an underdog and the idea of a sixteen year old student going into competition with Google and Yahoo does have a David and Goliath feel about it. We were convinced that the UK press and media would give Boogami and James a lot of coverage and that many people would warm to the idea of adopting Boogami as their home page. This would then be followed by a major marketing campaign and the continuous launch of new services and functions that would be free to use by the general public and funded through advertising revenue.

Whilst we started to put together a business plan to include developments that we would be responsible for developing and integrating into Boogami, we discovered that James had his own ideas and had already started to put them together. There was no holding this boy back and the plan was to roll out these new services at intervals so as to keep the media interest going. We also needed to avoid swamping new users with information and instead let them get used to using one service before learning how to use another.

Boogami Life: James is obviously a young man who gets an idea and immediately starts to work on it. This is a classic characteristic of an entrepreneur: they don't let the grass grow under their feet. It turned out that James was developing a new social networking site, an important addition to keep people coming back and using Boogami. The name we came up with was Boogami Life as it was going to include many unique features covering people's everyday lives. Free to use, this social networking site was going to be funded by more pixel advertising and other innovative advertising systems.

In December 2008 we launched Boogami Life a social networking site with a number of unique features that put it a head and shoulders above all the other major social networking sites. If you are serious about doing business over the internet, you should join Boogami Life. It costs nothing to join but could expose you to a whole new world of prospective clients.

All this was being done whilst James was still attending college and studying for his exams. Today (24/07/08) he breaks up for his summer holidays and can therefore devote more time to Boogami. This means he can now concentrate on developing a whole range of initiatives that he has already advised us about.

We, on the other hand had a whole range of ideas including a swap website, that we were going to develop alongside James; plus of course we were also managing the PR and marketing.

Boogami Doorways: The idea behind Boogami Doorways was to provide the facility for anyone who wanted to build a low cost website or anyone who wanted to market an existing website to build pages within one central searchable database and facilitate it so that all the other search engines could search the database. Boogami Doorways would enable anyone to start an online business with very little outlay.
