SOCIAL NETWORKING AND SEARCH ENGINE LAUNCH

Social networking and search engine launch, pixel advertising and PPC combined with qualified sales lead generation systems through business networking

Unlike other pixel advertising sites that had no real purpose other than to sell advertising and no reason for anyone to visit the website, Boogami was a search engine that people could use over and over again. However, it had to be launched properly and everything had to be in place.

The first thing we did was advise our PR company to see if they felt we had enough to get a really good PR campaign going. The response was a positive yes. Although we were now beavering away in the background, it was important that we didn't interfere with the site and only provided advice so that James could make any technical changes. This was so James could honestly say that he had built the site himself when being interviewed by the media and press. It was his idea and he had built it without any help or outside interference. This had to remain the case, at least in the short term. Everything we recommended was well within James's capabilities and, though there was little that we felt needed doing at this stage, he responded quickly and efficiently. It was obvious that he was going to be very easy to work with.

Fantastic business idea

The first thing we suggested was for James to make the pixel adverts visible each time someone did a search, no matter what somebody searched for rather than just be displayed on the home page. This would increase the clickthroughs for the advertisers by several hundred percent and make them really good value for money.

SOCIAL NETWORKING

Then we suggested adding a social networking site to the search engine. Boogami Life would be a social networking site that had a social heart and conscience and would be used by people who cared about good causes. Get ten million members and you would have ten million potential users of the search engine.

We weren't really happy with the original domain name that James had originally come up with. It was workable but it didn't roll off the tongue from a marketing point of view. We had a list of domain names that we owned and felt that Boogami really fitted the bill. So we asked James to put a test copy of his search engine up on boogami.com so that he could work on making changes and test the results.

The next day I received an email from James and his dad asking if they could use the name because the preferred it to the name they had already chosen. This was the expected result and far better than telling them that we didn't think their name would work. It was James's baby and he had to feel that he was still in charge and running the business - which of course he was.

The impatience of youth is a wonderful thing if it can be harnessed. James had been working on his own and ploughing ahead unhindered. Now he had a large team of people working with him and developments had to be discussed and decisions made by all departments. The public relations team had to wait for either a quiet day where there was little news and the media and press would be scouting for something of interest or when something related to the launch of Boogami was hitting the headlines. Patience was needed here but whilst we were working quietly away James was already developing additional ideas to keep Boogami in the public eye.

Evidently we had a real fire cracker on our hands and it was going to be all absorbing. What James had to understand was that he had set out to earn a million pounds by selling pixel advertising but we were going to turn his business into a multi-million pound business and, in order to do that, we had to put in infrastructures and the resources to deal with the onslaught.

SEARCH ENGINE

James had built an automated advertising search engine but if a million people visited his search engine when the PR kicked off and just five thousand people sent Boogami an email enquiring about how to advertise or maybe encountered problems, James was not going to have time to do his homework and be ready for school the next day. All these things had to be planned for and the systems and infrastructure put in place before it all kicked off.

If we were going to back him, we had to make sure everything worked and any problems were dealt with efficiently and, most importantly, that his interests were protected at all times. This meant ensuring that the servers were robust enough and protected from any cyber attack. James was looking to make a million and we were looking to have to invest a million just to ensure it was launched properly. The real money was going to be made from other developments that James was now planning and systems that we would build and implement after the initial launch.

As James's prime reason for building his search engine was to pay off his father's mortgage, it was imperative that we provide the backing to take the company forward to ensure that Boogami did not become a one hit wonder. It doesn't matter how automated your website is, it will still require staffing to handle enquiries and technical problems.

Furthermore, to implement just the plans and ideas that James had in mind, let alone our own ideas, massive investment was going to be required to put everything in place and ensure everything ran smoothly and profitably. This was going to need to include accountants, lawyers, developers, programmers, designers, IT support and a raft of other technical staff to maintain progress and development.
