SELLING ARTICLES ON THE INTERNET TO NEWSPAPER AND MAGAZINES

Selling articles on the internet to newspaper and magazines * literary agents * how to earn an income as an internet journalist * free book publishing

Newspapers and magazines normally commission articles from journalists that they know. Writing an article without having a buyer often leads to disappointment as selling any article is difficult. Getting established as a journalist or following a career in journalism is tough but we have a solution. As literary agents and internet book publishers, we are able to publish most things on the internet. We do not make a charge for this because we share the advertising revenue with the author. Should a newspaper or magazine come along wishing to buy or commission an article, as your agent, we take a commission. Find out how to earn money from writing.

Book Murder at the Regal Hotel continued:

It was three forty-five when I got back Sian Lloyd Evans was already at her desk and she pointedly looked at her watch when I came in. She never asks me directly how I'd been spending my time, or rather her time, so instead she asked me what was in the bag I was carrying.

I rustled the Boots bag and said, "My lunch. I haven't eaten yet." I looked inside, "Chicken salad on wholemeal bread with low calorie mayonnaise."

She paused for several seconds and then smiled. "So you decided to take my advice."

"Well, yes" I replied, meekly, making a pretence of being humble. "You're right about my weight. I should lose some."

She didn't buy it. "Do you know, Davy," she said, "If I were a cynic, I would have said that you decided to follow my suggestion about food to get me into a favourable frame of mind.. And if I were really cynical I might go further and say it was something to do with Jane Baker who just dropped you off in the car park."

I said nothing.

"So it's a good job that I'm not a cynic, isn't it?" She sat back with a satisfied smile on her face.

I had to concede the point, "So you've added mind-reading to your many skills, have you?"

"Not mind-reading. You know I don't believe in any of that paranormal, pseudoscience nonsense. I observe and deduce. Perhaps signs that other people don't see, but nevertheless real hard physical signs. But most of all, in your case, I simply know you. If I suggest healthy food for you, your natural bloody-minded reaction would be to eat something unhealthy, so when I see you foregoing a meal of pie and chips or something, and suffering with a chicken salad sandwich, I know something is up. What do you want?"

I admitted it, "You're right. Jane Baker wants a favour. She has a case and she wants us to do the investigation."

"What kind of case?"

"A murder case," I replied flatly.

Sian raised her eyebrows. "A murder case? Why didn't she just ask me directly? We've worked with her before."

I was trying to play this carefully, "Well, it seems to be a bit of a hopeless case. The police say they've got it all wrapped up. They're very cocky about it. Even arrogant, Jane thought"

She stared at me, and then said shrewdly, "There's something about this that you think I wouldn't like, isn't there? Otherwise you wouldn't try to taunt me with the arrogance of the police. What is it? A marital problem?"

"Oh no. Nothing like that. The suspect, the accused, Jane's client, was found standing over the body with the gun in his hand."

"The smoking gun, eh?"

"I know it's always tempting to have a challenge like that, but in this case . . ."

"I don't know you were an angler, Davy. "

I was puzzled, "An angler?"

"You want me to rise to the bait, don't you? A smoking gun? A challenge? You'll be saying next that only I can solve it."

That was exactly what I was going to say next, but she had beaten me to it, so I had to improvise, "That's strange. That's exactly what Jane said."

She was too ladylike to snort audibly, so she merely raised her eyebrows, "What's the problem then?"

The time had come, "The facts are just like I said . . ."

"Just as you said."

I couldn't resist it, "Yes, just like I said. He was found by the police standing over the body with the gun in his hand."

"Did anyone actually see him pull the trigger?" This was a good sign, she was asking for details.

"Not as far as I know. Jane says she hasn't seen all the prosecution's evidence yet, but . . . ."

She wanted to probe a bit more, "So it's only circumstantial?"

"Yeah, but how much evidence do you want?" Devil's advocate was my best tactic at this stage.

"Circumstantial evidence isn't conclusive. What does the accused say? "

She was probably hooked so I started to lay out the facts, "Apparently he says he was on his way to meet the deceased in this hotel and as he was going in the front door, he heard the shot. He waited a few minutes there in the lobby to see what would happen but nothing did, so he went up to the room as arranged. He found the body, not quite dead and at that moment the police came."

"You've missed something out. I can tell by your tone."
