SALES TRAINING COMPANY, SELLING SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES

Sales training company, selling skills and techniques that irritate the hell out of potential clients and insult their intelligence.

I actually enjoy getting cold calls from professional sales people. They are normally mature and experienced and it shows in their approach. However, I can always tell when I have a sales person hot off a sales training course using newly learned selling skills and techniques no doubt taught by a sales training company. I'm polite to everyone who calls because I appreciate they are doing a hard job but these sales techniques learned on training courses are usually irritating and likely to alienate most intelligent people.

Successful sales people come through with a quiet confidence. They are used to selling at board level, they are not using sales skills learned in a classroom but skills learned through years of sales experience that they use instinctively without thinking.

Successful sales people have usually done their research and ask the right questions to discover if I actually have a need for their product or service. Sales people who have learned their techniques in a classroom usually come across as over enthusiastic, over personal, sometimes desperate and rarely listen. They are only interested in getting their sales pitch or script across, no matter what. They will be using what they have been told are "power phrases" or something just as stupid, in order to emphasise their point.

WHY SALES TRAINERS ARE THE LAST PEOPLE YOU SHOULD ASK TO TRAIN YOUR STAFF

Galileo said: "There is nothing you can teach a man except help him to discover it within himself". Having recruited thousands of sales people in my time, I know this is true. You can teach someone sales techniques but you cannot teach them to sell. It is either part of their makeup or something is missing.

When that part of someone's makeup is missing, they do not enjoy the sales process, they don't get the same buzz out of closing a deal, don't feel the need to get another fix by finding the next sale and often end up doing something else by way of a career. Sales training is the obvious next step; they believe they know what is required and think that they can pass on their experience to others. Sales trainers are often failed sales people. If they really enjoyed selling and were truly successful at it, they would be doing it.

No successful professional footballer hung up his boots out of choice to become a trainer. They hang on until their legs won't carry them fast enough anymore. Ask any football manager if he would want his time over again, and they would all say yes. They stop playing because they cannot physically continue.

With sales trainers, it is because they cannot mentally continue doing the sales job. They found it too hard, too demanding and mentally gruelling. They are the quitters that now try and tell other people how to do the job.

Sales training achieves very little. However, provide even the most inexperienced sales person with quality sales enquiries from people who want to buy your product and even the most inexperienced novice will make sales.

And if they don't have to cold call, you will hang onto your sales people for longer providing you pay them well and keep them happy. This is of paramount importance because good sales people are constantly being head hunted by other companies keen to pay more and benefit from the profits a good sales person generates. Experience, is something no sales training can provide and why, if you are looking for ways to increase sales, you are better off using our services than a sales training company.
