RISING COST OF FUEL, WATER POWER, ELECTRIC CARS, HYBRID VEHICLES

Rising cost of fuel, water power, electric cars, hybrid vehicles, why rising petrol costs can be a good thing with many benefits and why cutting fuel consumption is good for you

Of course not everyone is unhappy or concerned about the increases in oil that have led to price increases at the petrol pumps. Many people actually think that rising cost of fuel could be a good thing leading to a change in lifestyles and the way many of us view our lives.

Retailers are reporting that sales of bicycles are up by as much as twenty five percent as more and more people use bikes to cycle to work and pop down the shops. I would imagine that the majority of people buying bikes are probably half reasonably fit anyway; obese people would have to lose considerable weight before they even considered peddling anything anywhere.

However, fitness levels for many people are going to increase dramatically if the trend to cycle or walk anywhere continues. I wonder though if the overweight and horrendously obese mums you see driving their fat and obese children to school will leave their 4x4s on their drives and waddle down to the school gates. They and their slovenly children would benefit far more from being restricted from driving their cars.

Parking round the school drop off points has long been a problem as many of these mothers were unable to park their gas guzzlers properly; taking up one and sometimes two parking spaces because they were so fat they couldn't turn in their driving seats to see where they were reversing. Maybe increasing fuel prices will force these fatties off the road and get them walking; something most of them have been too lazy to do in the past. It will be interesting to see if childhood obesity starts to decline as they all waddle off to school.

Car manufacturers are also having to look at producing smaller cars, electric cars and hybrid cars as the market changes. We are going to end up with a two tier motoring system; those who can fit into a smaller car and those who have such huge arses they will still have to drive larger gas guzzling cars.

If you are overweight, the chances are that your spouse and children are also overweight and that means you are getting less mileage to the gallon than families who are slim and fit. I can see the phrase being coined "Does this car make my arse look fat?"

Fuel poverty and the rising cost of petrol is going to change people's lifestyles, improve their health and reduce obesity. Maybe this is what has been needed to get obese people off their lazy fat arses and walking more. People who have already purchased bikes are remarking that they feel better and healthier and are enjoying the exercise. Despite the fact that gas prices have continued to rise, they now have more money in their pockets because they are saving thousands a year. There will obviously be those that are lazy and obese who will simply continue to complain.

The rising cost of fuel will deliver numerous other benefits. We are going to see fewer cars on the road, cars being used less often and many people opting to drive more slowly or driving cars that are incapable of driving fast. Given twelve months, we are likely to see a drop in car accidents and deaths on the roads and this has to be a good thing that no one can argue with. Fewer accidents and fewer illnesses caused by poor health and obesity will see less strain on the health service; that has to be a good thing too.

Some people will not see the benefits of this and many will be looking at perceived negatives and continue to call for cuts in fuel costs.
