Staff are taking more time off for health reasons including, heart disease, liver failure, kidney problems, diabetes, rheumatism and arthritis, backache, thrombosis, depression and just about every ailment you can think of and it is nearly always as a direct result of bad diet, lack of exercise and over eating. In short, self inflicted and self induced by lack of control and care for oneself.

Start of article about employing overweight staff.

Previous page about fat employees.

Tu le merites gros porc which roughly translated means - serves you right you fat bastard. How long does business have to suffer and pay the price for the greed and self indulgence of their employees? Of course the politically correct brigade will blame employers for not doing more and may be they should take a firmer stand. Should companies tell their staff to lose weight? It isn't just in the interest of the company who face massive losses due to lost working days, it also has to be in the best interest of any member of staff who happens to be overweight.

OVERWEIGHT MANAGERS

Management should set an example. Senior members of staff who are overweight are clearly sending the wrong message to junior employees. Like fat families, fat companies tend to accept obesity as if it is something normal. Companies that have overweight management teams tend to lose more working days than businesses that have fewer obese staff.

At some point, business has to wake up to the problem. Obesity is hitting their profits harder than their competition and in order to compete they have to have fit, healthy, energetic staff that are up to the job. Failure to recognise that their employees health is important will lead to long term problems.

MEDICAL INSURANCE COSTS

Medical insurance costs, disability pensions, critical illness cover, inefficiency, unhappy clients fed up with lack lustre service, more lost working days and a work force that will become a huge financial burden rather than an asset.

It is all too easy for a member of staff to walk out of a factory to the mobile burger bar, fast food outlets are too many and too accessible, supermarkets make processed food appear enticing and cheap and staff canteens churn out meals that are unhealthy but popular.

British television seems to encourage employing personalities who have built their careers on being fat making obesity appear to be acceptable and something no one should be ashamed of. You don't see very many fat French personalities or actors on French TV. Whether this is because there are so few or the French TV channels have a policy of not employing fat bastards is debatable, but it is most likely the latter.
