Obese child advice * fat children * bullying problem help * clinically obese child advice * diet help and support * self esteem problems
The road to morbid obesity is an easy one to follow as anyone with a clinically obese child will tell you. An overweight toddler becomes a fat child with self esteem problems, bullying problems kick in very early on from other children. This leads to comfort eating and the weight problem becomes an eating disorder and obesity problem leading to serious health issues.
It is far easier to sort out the eating habits of a toddler or small child than to control a ten year old or teenager who has the wherewithal and to access junk food and sweets and chocolate whilst at school or outside of the home.
You will find the E-book and forum extremely useful and packed with advice about how to tackle a child whose eating habits and diet are out of control. The obvious solution is to prevent your toddler from gaining weight early on in life by putting in place a healthy diet and physical activities to build muscle and burn fat. This is why La Feytaud was originally formulated as a nutritious healthy diet. Since 1993, it has developed as a diet and lifestyle to educate all the family into eating correctly by combining nutritious meals with family activities using the correct mental attitude.
If your overweight or obese child is under the age of ten, you should be able to control what they eat by using La Feytaud and re-educating their brain to eat correctly and enjoy the right types of food. This begins with your shopping habits and attitude to providing the right type of food and restricting the levels of junk and processed food you allow into your house. What you child eats is your responsibility; you cannot expect a child to take responsibility for their own health.
After the age of ten, it becomes more difficult to control what your child is eating outside of the home. Over eating or eating junk food is like any other drug addiction. Your child's brain will be telling him or her that they must have a food fix and like all addicts, they can become very creative and resourceful in designing methods to obtain food. This can take the shape of trading off services like doing homework for another child for food or money to buy prohibited food; befriending children who take packed lunches to school who are prepared to share, or even stealing from your purse or wallet.
Their brain will be telling them that this is perfectly acceptable behaviour because you are depriving them of the food they like. It is therefore absolutely essential that your child fully understands why they are not allowed to eat junk food, totally agrees with the reasons and knows and desires what the long term benefits are going to be.
The only way to achieve this is to get your child to complete a PVD to get them to understand why they over eat and most importantly why they need to change and the reasons why they want to change. Without the correct mental attitude the long term rewards are never going to be met.
In short your child has to understand why they over eat, want to lose weight and approach the problem of losing weight for their own reasons not because you are telling them to. Unless they want to lose weight, and are determined to succeed, you will be fighting a losing battle. Visualisation of achieving their target and the rewards are paramount.
I cover the psychological approach to dieting in the E-book and you will find support and advice through the forum.
