NICHE STORE AFFILIATE MARKETING AND HOW TO BECOME AN EBAY AFFILIATE

Niche store affiliate marketing and how to become an eBay affiliate and earn money online with very low set up costs

This same principle applies with online sales: the more specialist the niche, the greater the chance that the members of your (albeit smaller) target audience are going to be fanatical about what you are promoting and hence more likely to buy something.

Impossible to decide what niche to work in

Admittedly, it can be hard to think of specialist niches to target. After all, if something comes to mind really easily it probably isn't a niche subject in the first place!

So, you need to have a bit of a brainstorming session to come up with some potential ideas. A good starting point is to think of your friends and try to call to mind anyone who has what you might think of as an unusual hobby. For example, I have a friend called Tim who collects Knight Rider memorabilia. He's got posters, model KITT cars, and all sorts. Some people might think that a grown man having such an obsession with a 1980s TV show aimed primarily at kids is a bit odd. It doesn't matter: for the astute affiliate, Tim is the ideal kind of customer. Within reason, he'll buy anything he can find that is connected with Knight Rider. And because that's not the sort of thing you can buy in your local corner shop, Tim ends up making most of his purchases on the internet or at specialist collectors' fairs and conventions. So, if you set up a site selling Knight Rider memorabilia and someone like Tim finds it then you are in with a very good chance of making a sale.

NICHE STORES

Once you have got your list of potential niches drawn up, you then need to do some keyword research to determine what search terms you will use to drive traffic to your affiliate website. Depending on what keyword tools you use, this will also give you the opportunity to check whether your chosen niches really are as well chosen as you think. You can do this by looking at how many people search on a particular keyword each month and comparing that to how many other websites are targeting that keyword. Ideally you want a relatively high number of searches and a relatively small number of competing websites.

Some useful tools for doing keyword research are:

Google's Keyword Tool
Wordtracker
Micro Niche Finder

Finding merchants

We said in our example above that Tim has a limited choice when it comes to finding places that sell the kind of niche products he is looking for. So you would be forgiven to thinking that this means we are going to struggle to find an affiliate scheme to promote. After all, if you go on to a typical affiliate network and search for merchants who sell Knight Rider memorabilia you are likely to draw a blank. And without a merchant to promote, even the best affiliate is going to be dead in the water....
