Medical negligence claims * cerebral palsy * brain damage, *sue the NHS * medical incompetence and clinical negligence compensation claim

Most of the time, those in the medical profession do an excellent job of looking after us when we are ill or undergoing an operation in hospital. But sometimes things can go seriously wrong, and when they do the results can be painful, crippling, life-changing, or even fatal.

In cases where it can be shown that a doctor, surgeon, Nurse, or other medical professional was negligent, incompetent or displayed a lack of care, there is usually a good chance of the patient being able to pursue a claim for compensation for what is known as medical negligence (or clinical negligence).

MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE CLAIMS

There are all sorts of situations which can give rise to a medical negligence compensation claim. For example, a GP might make a misdiagnosis or prescribes the wrong medication and this in turn could lead to the patient suffering an allergic or seriously adverse reaction or failing to make a speedy recovery and ending up in hospital instead.

CEREBRAL PALSY

A hospital midwife or obstetrician could fail to notice problems developing during a birth. This could result in the baby being starved of oxygen and ending up with brain damage (for example cerebral palsy).

A simple vasectomy procedure could be carried out incorrectly, resulting in prolonged pain and suffering or in an unwanted pregnancy further down the line.

Whilst a patient in hospital, or visiting a patient in hospital, a patient or visitor could become infected with one of the so-called hospital super bugs such as C Difficile or MRSA. In many cases, a hospital acquired infection like this may be due to negligence on the part of the hospital staff or management.

BRAIN DAMAGE

If you have suffered in any way as a result of a mistake made by your GP or by hospital staff then it is important to make sure you have a specialist medical negligence solicitor on your side if you want to pursue a claim for compensation. Not all compensation claims companies are able to take on medical and clinical negligence claims because the law in this area is extremely complex. However, we work with solicitors who are experts in this field and who can ensure you get the highest possible level of compensation for your injuries.
