Website flipping is just one thing that we do and we cover this in depth later in the book. If you are thinking of buying an existing internet business, we can tell you now that you have to be very, very careful and employ a solicitor, or internet business consultant who understand the internet and internet law to advise you. We have come across people who foolishly remortgaged their homes in order to buy internet sites that were totally worthless. Scammers have no morals about you losing your house and they are usually very convincing.

The people in question took no advice and bought websites that were simply duplicates of other websites. The websites in question were sites that were supposedly advertising holiday homes where the advertisers were paying an annual fee to display their properties. It turned out that the property owners knew nothing about the websites, had never paid for any advertising, had never had an enquiry and therefore had no intention of paying in the future. £42,000 was the most we have seen someone pay for one of these scam sites. He was a taxi driver, didn't ask to see any audited accounts, didn't contact any of the supposed advertisers, didn't take any advice from any source and remortgaged his house to buy the site in the belief it would make him rich. By the time he got to us, there was nothing we could do to help.

GET RICH SCAMS

The site selling the websites had scores of testimonials from happy clients. Not one was genuine. So you should also be wary about any testimonials you see published on websites.

Now I am twenty five, my cancer is cured and the doctors say I will live forever. PYRAMID SELLING AND MULTI-LEVEL MARKETING SCHEMES

We exaggerate to make our point but anyone can write anything as a testimonial and publish it on a website. Just because you can read it doesn't mean it is true.

So, having covered most of things that you should avoid, let's get down to the nitty-gritty of making money. Not everything will be relevant to you but you should read everything because their will be important snippets of information and little nuggets of gold in every chapter that may be pertinent to your particular chosen field. If you start to flick through or jump chapters to get to something that you feel is up your street, you may miss a little gem that could save you money or make you a small fortune.
