THE LOT, the region that's got the lot: beauty, peace and
a welcoming calm without the usual bustle of people and traffic.
In its historic and glorious past, it was originally inhabited
by the Galls, invaded by Julius Caesar and numerous others,
before the hundred years' war took its bloodthirsty toll.
Its more recent history includes the active role taken by
the brave members of the resistance during the Second World
War.
The whole area has now been opened up and made easily accessible
by the budget airlines running daily cheap flights into the
region - destinations include Toulouse, Bergerac, Limoges
and Rodez. Additionally, the new A20 autoroute passes through
the centre of the Lot, ensuring straightforward access to
most areas.

L'oustal is a pretty stone built
cottage situated on the edge of the picturesque village
of Soucirac, which is small and peaceful some 10 kms
from the A 20 autoroute and 4 kms from the N 20. Toulouse
(Blagnac airport) 150 kms and 1 hour 30 mins drive.
Until Napoleonic times this important route to the
south and the Spanish border passed through the village,
which gave rise to a wealth of fine properties. It
is approximately 1000ft above sea level and there
are beautiful views over the surrounding countryside.
L'oustal reputably dates back to the 13 century
and has been sensibly renovated, many of the original
features being retained. It is furnished and equipped
to a high standard and can sleep up to six plus baby.
