Book Murder at the Regal Hotel continued:
Her green eyes went wide, "Oh, that's a kind offer, Davy. I want to look into the early origins of the Welsh language. You know that there are many versions of the old Celtic language."
"I thought you knew all about Welsh," I said, "You done a lot of study. You're an expert."
"Not about the language," she said, "Mainly I've studied things. Old Welsh artefacts, and old French. But I need to know more about the language."
I sighed, "O.K. Tell me what you want?"
"I need some good books on the subject to begin with. Perhaps you could find some for me. In your spare time," she added.
"What spare time?" I thought and I groaned inwardly. What with trying to help Jane, and finding about Old Celtic languages, I knew I wouldn't get much sleep for a few days.
I turned my laptop on and made sure the telephone connection was made. Fortunately Sian had agreed some months ago we could get Broadband set up.
"Which Old Celtic language do you want me to start with?"
"Breton, think. There are probably more books on that than Old Cornish. If you can find any in English that would be better. Or modern French." She speaks French and Welsh as well as English. She studied them at University, too.
I called up the internet server and waited for the connection. Sian got up and said she was leaving for the day. "I'm going for my archery practice."
She had taken up archery when handguns were banned in England. Before that she had belonged to a shooting club. I believe she was pretty good, and she was really disappointed when the ban was enforced. She took it very well though, "It's understandable that a government would have to take some action," she said, "All those children killed."
Now she was getting pretty good at archery too.
She patted me on the shoulder on her way out..
"Don't stay up too late. You need your sleep as well as a healthy diet." With that final dig, she glided out.
The connection was made and I muttered to myself as I typed in "Celtic Language" and set to work. I groaned when I saw that there were three million nine hundred and eighty thousand references to look at.
