Scammers are looking for people who are desperate to make money and play on their vulnerability and it has to be said that they are also looking for idiots or people who don't know how the internet works.

So people who are desperately looking for ways to get rich quick will normally choose to believe any claims made on a website rather than be cautious. In this case, the websites concerned were giving what appeared to be free and unbiased advice, with no obvious or apparent benefit to anyone who is not internet savvy.

However, the banner links from the referring websites to the gambling websites were in fact linking to affiliate schemes. (An affiliate scheme is a way of tracking where a punter has come from so that they can pay the referrer a commission on any money paid over.) in this case, the get rich quick website, though apparently impartial, was simply persuading any visitor that they had a fool proof way of making money and conning them into believing they had a fool proof way of getting rich.

So mistake number one was believing that the referring website was unbiased and not an income earning website. It has to be said that it is extremely rare that anyone ever goes to the expense of building a website without having a financial goal and you should bear this in mind at all times.

Mistake number two was not understanding or knowing about affiliate schemes and how they work. Had the writer of this article known about them, he would have immediately realised that the referring website was making money from him.

Error number three was believing the statistics that were published on the websites. 78% of all statistics are made up - or does 65% sound more convincing? Anyway, 84% of people believe statistics when they see them published and 54% of websites that publish statistics have made them up, just like I have. The only true statistic is that 100% of all get rich schemes are scams.

Mistake number four was believing that there was a way of beating the roulette wheel. Online gambling or roulette is the same as playing roulette in a casino - except the online roulette wheel could be programmed to do anything the programmers told it to do. The fact is, the roulette wheel is biased towards the house. That is how casinos make their money and gambling on or off line, there is no system, mathematical or otherwise that can enable a gambler to win on a continuous basis. If you gamble, you will eventually lose. Gambling is a mugs game.

Error number five was simply looking for an easy get rich scheme. They do not exist and anyone who believes otherwise is an idiot and they are the people that the scammers are targeting.

Just remember that anyone or any website purporting to tell you how to get rich quick has a financial aim in mind and that is to persuade you to part with your money on the grounds of getting rich quick. If it was that simple, millionaires who work hard for their money would throw in the towel and join these get rich fast schemes. The reason they don't is because they are not stupid.
