I must admit that business pressures normally necessitated that I drove my children to school and I would return infuriated and somewhat disgusted having completed this task. This had nothing to do with the fact that I now had the responsibility of taking my children to school; my anger and frustration was aimed at the mothers who congregated around the parking area.

We lived just about as far away as you could get from the school yet all these mothers drove, even when they only had a few hundred yards to travel. What infuriated me was their inability to park and selfish attitude in taking up almost two parking spaces whilst I, on a tight schedule would have to park around the corner because of the lack of space. Seems trivial now but it was more than just their lack of thought about other people who had places to go and things to do other than stand and chat all morning.

My indignation turned to disgust when I was first confronted by the site of these women which were an affront to any decent man's eyes. Gone were the elegant and stunning women that I remembered from my early childhood and they had been replaced by something quite revolting.

To be fair, there were still slim attractive women who had taken time over their appearance amongst the mass of female forms that lounged against the school fence, but they were in the minority. In the main, there were fat and even obese women, hair pulled back in a greasy pony tail or just left hanging lank around their fat, pasty faces. Gone were the elegant skirts and dresses of my mother's era; replaced by shell suits or velour house suits that stretched across arses that looked like two dead dogs in a sack.

I remember thinking how lucky I was to be married to a beautiful woman who took time and pride over her appearance and not to have got saddled to someone who obviously didn't give a damn about how she looked. Talk about the chickens coming home to roost; these women had eaten them and the chips they were served with.

These slovenly women couldn't be bothered to walk a few hundred yards to school, couldn't be bothered to look after themselves and judging by the size of their fat kids, couldn't be bothered to look after them and provide a decent healthy diet for them either.

I remember watching my daughter running through the playground to join some friends, many of whom were chubby or fat children of five years of age. Children, not much older than toddlers whose parents were guilty of abuse in every sense of the word. I felt feelings of pride about my daughter and disgust for these women who were guilty of ruining their children's futures.
