Trailblazers From
TEFL to Cross-Cultural Consultancy American,
working as an intercultural consultant and trainer in the USA. Alice's
teaching experience has ranged from teaching English to Swedish engineers,
through teaching assistants culture and presentation skills, to teaching
at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
'I enjoyed studying other languages and meeting people from other cultures so decided to take a graduate degree in linguistics with a concentration in English as a second language (TESOL),' says Alice. 'Teaching English to international students helped give me a good basis for other work related to intercultural communication.' Alice has produced two videos on global nomads which she showed at SIETAR (Society for Intercultural Education Training and Research), and NAFSA (Association for International Educators) conferences this year. 'I chose to work in intercultural communication because of my own adjustment and communication issues while living, studying and working overseas in England, Finland and Sweden, and my family background as a Chinese American well as my academic interests.'
