ABOUT CALPE
Calpe lies on the northern Costa Blanca and is easily recognised by the Peņon de Ifach, which is a massive rock at the end of the Sierra Bernia Mountains that run down to the sea along the Calpe coast. There is a rocky pathway to the top for the more adventurous. The views from this point are fantastic. For a more relaxed stroll you are able to walk to the end of the south side of the rock along a well-planted walkway close to the sea. During the summer months and throughout the year there are many fiestas, celebrations and fireworks and it is worth while checking dates out with the tourist information office.
As with many small coastal fishing towns in Spain, Calpe has grown over the past thirty years into a modern holiday resort and has many apartments, hotels and amenities for the holidaymaker.
Calpe has a fabulous market, lots of shops and many restaurants & bars.
The Peņon de Ifach separates the two beaches, one on the south side where the main town lies and one on the north side. Both beaches are very popular sandy beaches.
Along the promenade outside the port fish market you will find many fish restaurants with amazing fish and shellfish displays.
Mountains surround Calpe with hilly pine covered landscapes with many other beautiful places to see. In particular the coast road north along to the small town of Moraira is well worth the drive and only 15 minutes away. Here you will find a very small and exclusive town with a prestigious marina, boutiques and a whole range of small shops. A little further north and you come to the lovely location of Javea. This is comprised of three areas: the old town, the port and the Arenal holiday part of Javea with fabulous sandy beaches and many bars. There's a lot to see and do.
To the south of Calpe is Altea with its lovely blue domed churches, Church Square and old town charm, large markets and many shops and further south you have Benidorm.
The rural outskirts of Calpe are popular amongst property finders and fabulous villas are plentiful, offering good value for money if compared to the other more exclusive areas of Moraira and Javea.
