HOW TO GET YOUR BANK TO REFUND CHARGES

How to get your bank to refund charges they have imposed that are unfair and could be illegal so you don't have to pay their charges.

There are companies who can help you make a claim against your bank to get them to refund charges and who work on a no-win no-fee basis.

Bank charges can be incurred for various reasons such as running up an unauthorised overdraft, or having cheques, direct debits or standing orders bounced.

These charges were recently deemed as being illegal in many instances. This is because any penalty that your bank charges has to be in proportion to its own costs.

Clearly if it only costs your bank a ouple fo pounds to send you a letter telling you that you have gone overdrawn, then it is quite tricky to explain why the bank might charge you £30 or more for sending that letter.

You can now apply to claim back any charges that your bank has made, and you can go back up to six years.

If you cannot find all your past bank statements, you can still make a claim.

It doesn't even matter if you have closed the account. You can still make a claim.

Putting it in a nutshell, you have nothing to lose and plenty to gain by making a claim against your bank for the repayment of bank charges.
