So why do most internet companies or websites fail when the internet offers such incredible opportunities to make money. I don't believe that it does; any more than your local high street offers you a fantastic opportunity to open a shop and build a successful business. Even the biggest and the best companies can lose money when economic climates take a down turn. You can have two shops next to each other and one will be highly profitable whilst the other is losing money.

It is down to the business model; whether it is geared to being profitable or a loss maker; whether the directors have got their sums right and whether their product or service is in demand and correctly priced. Whether you have a shop on the high street or a website on the internet the same basic rules apply. If you start a business on a shoestring, it will almost certainly run into difficulties very early on because there is not the money available to develop the business or overcome difficulties when they arise.

Successful internet companies start out large with the financial resources to develop inline with a realistic business plan. Millions of new internet entrepreneurs lose their shirts within the first two years of starting their internet business because they did not seek backing, sound business advice and didn't bother to put a sensible, realistic and achievable business plan together. Most simply trot off to a website designer and ask him or her to build them a website without any consideration or forethought about how to promote the site.

The acid test is to go to Boogami and type in a few select key phrases related to your business that you would want your website to be highly ranked for. By this, I mean in the top ten organic or natural listings/results. My guess is that Boogami is likely to return a few million, if not tens or hundreds of web pages indexed for those keywords. You see the internet doesn't give you access to a worldwide audience unless your website can be found. However, it does expose you to global competition and bizarrely this does not seem to occur to most internet entrepreneurs who believe that simply owning a website is the first step on the road to riches.

MAKE MONEY ON THE INTERNET

The internet is simply a medium to make money. It is not how you will make money or get rich. In order to do that you have to understand how the internet and more importantly how the search engines work. Or, you have to have huge resources to advertise your website on television or in the press, and to pay for pay per click advertising.

So before you decide which website design company is going to build your website, you need to do some research. The cheapest website designer is not going to be the best and if you don't choose one of the best; a website designer who understands the search engines and will write your specifications for you, your first business decision will be the cause of your failure.
