How to succeed online using correct website design, internet marketing, pay per click advertising and search engine optimisation, the entrepreneur secrets other E-books don't reveal

Within days of my website being finished my website was ranking number one on Google and holding 2nd, 3rd and other top ten positions for just about every search term I had requested and my site has maintained those positions ever since. It amazed me then and it still astounds me today that a chance meeting turned my internet aspirations into gold.

I have partnered with David and Paul on a number of other internet projects and suggested on more than one occasion that they should write a book about how to make money on the internet. Each time they laughed at the idea, citing lack of time, and saying it would be unprofitable because of the myriad of books, albeit worthless, that had already been published on the subject. And, although unmentioned, I believe there was a reluctance on their side to impart hard earned secrets.

There are no other industries that I can think of where the so-called expert doesn't provide at least some advice. If you were to describe what you wanted a boat builder to design, or a builder to build an extension or a car manufacturer to make a car, they would at least say - "if I do that the boat will sink, the house will fall down or the car will crash".

However, the internet, as wonderful as it is, has given birth to an industry where anyone can set themselves up as a website designer, any idiot can write and sell an e-book and any scam monger can set up a website promising easy riches to any naïve individual foolish enough to believe the hype.

I now understand that most websites are not built for the search engines. Most website designers don't understand the medium they work in and simply build websites that look nice but will never get any traffic or earn their owners a penny. They are not breaking any laws and most don't claim or even talk about getting high rankings in the search engines because the average website owner doesn't know enough to ask the right questions.

In fact the average person just reads or hears about the people who are making fortunes on the internet (most people who are making these claims actually aren't getting rich) and like the California gold rush, millions have stampeded to the internet to stake their claim; and there are apparently plenty of predators ready and only too willing to help them part with their money.

However, in September 2007, I received a call from David saying that Paul, always the most reluctant to participate, had agreed to write a book on the subject. It had been prompted by a telephone call that Paul had received from someone who had written a book about how to make money from the internet and was asking his advice about how to get information about the book found online. The thought that someone had written a book about the internet and then didn't know how to market it online and obviously had little understanding of how the internet worked had incensed him so much that he felt the necessity to write something that people could understand and put to good use.

The Golden Web took eight months to write. It has been written by two of the most knowledgeable and successful entrepreneurs working on the internet today. It is packed with useful information, practical tips, no-nonsense help and clear succinct advice. It is not a get rich quick thesis. David and Paul are two of the hardest working people I know and this book explains that success on the internet comes at a price - commitment, determination and persistence.
